Siskel and ebert two thumbs up
This was the review that put Ebert on the map. According to the Archive of American Television , Siskel and Ebert determined whose name would come first in the title of their new show in the fairest, most democratic way they knew how: a coin toss. Red velvet all over the joint. Ebert hated it, and in the span of a couple of minutes he got Siskel to change his mind and give the movie a thumbs down. The proof of that is that much of the great criticism has been written about people who are dead. No human being alive has had more trouble with computers than Gene Siskel has.

The Curvy Film Critic
Everybody—the fans, the press, everyone—was waiting for Cruise. Ebert: People ask which one is the intellectual and which one is the populist. What was even more entertaining was when the two disagreed on how whether a film was work going to see or if it was a real stinker. He has a very highly developed sense of self, of who he is, what he thinks and what he cares about. Roger Ebert is the main reason I decided to review films via blogging.
Siskel & Ebert list
He gets some writer from Spy magazine and talks to him until the guy will do anything to make him stop talking. So was Roger Ebert a 'stealth feminist'? I loved that picture and have seen it ten times. In terms of positive vibes and good feeling, Dolly Parton actually has the aura that you would associate with a faith healer. Siskel: I did all of the hick things in connection with that show. Siskel: Roger is very good on story construction.
There were also times when every critic on Earth hated a movie, but Ebert expressed that hatred in the best possible way. How can I do this without his finding out? I loved that picture and have seen it ten times. He also started writing more personal essays about his health battles and philosophy on life, which were collected in his memoir Life Itself. They did not reply to this, and on Monday ordered the Thumbs removed from the show. Ebert: It was stupendous! When I tried to inform Gene, he said that he already knew exactly what he was supposed to do.
